The Milano is a luxury contemporary style album which cannot fail to impress. It is handmade in Italy from materials that look and feel like leather, with an uncompromising attention to detail and design flair – right down to the bespoke cotton bag to protect the matching carrying case the album is supplied with.

The album measures approx 13¼”x13″, and is of traditional bookbound construction. The ivory cover is plain – so the album could be used for showcasing other types of photography – portraiture, events, product ranges etc. – as well as wedding photography. The 15 black slip-in leaves hold up to 30 prints with or without overlays. Without overlays, the maximum print size is 11″x11″ and it takes just a few seconds to slide the print in, without need for any adhesives.  This allows prints to be easily changed at a later date.

This Sandhurst album was handmade in England by Spicer Hallfield – the UK’s largest wedding album manufacturer before they went out of business. It was one of their top-of-the-range Elizabethan albums, all of which were of traditional bookbound construction with heavyweight slip-in leaves.

The album measures approx 13½”x13″ externally, and has an unpadded leather cover with two raised gold bands on the spine, and gold metal corners. It has 20 brown slip-in leaves (ie 40 sides) with gold burl edges, allowing it to hold up to 40 11″x11″ prints without overlays.

I have only one of these albums, and it is for sale at just £65.00 – less than half its original trade price.

This versatile presentation album was made by Art Leather in New York, whose slogan was “The World’s Finest Albums and Folios”. That may be a bit of American marketing hype, but there is no doubt that this is a very stylish and well made album.

The black cover is slightly padded and is made of a grained leather-like material, with 2 gold lines around the edges. Other than those, the cover is plain, making this album suitable for displaying a wide range of subject matter – weddings, portraits, pet photos, still lifes or product photos etc. The 10 slip-in leaves each have a single gold line around the aperture, and the album can hold up to twenty 5″x5″ prints. Prints simply slide into place, with no adhesives required – making it very simple to change individual prints (or all of them) at a later date without damaging the album in any way.

As Art Leather went out of business quite some time ago (so much for being the “world’s finest”!), this is a rare opportunity to acquire one of their albums brand new. It has never been used in any way, and comes complete with its matching black presentation box measuring just under 8″x7″.

Traditional Albums With Overlays

These Aylesbury and Dovedale albums are traditional albums designed to hold prints up to 5″x5″ with overlays. They all measure approx. 8″x6¾” and are designed to be more portable than larger albums, or as parents’ albums.

The two Aylesbury albums have softly padded cream covers with a textured finish, and both have “Wedding” blocked in gold on the cover.

They are supplied with one of two options:

1. deluxe gold-edged leaves and premium grained and varnished black overlays to hold twenty 5″x3½” prints
2. standard deckle-edged brown leaves and overlays to hold up to thirty 5″x5″, 5″x4″ and 5″x3½” prints

Both albums come complete with an attractive presentation box, and cost £12.50 each.

The Dovedale album (see below and in photo at top of the page) has a smooth padded grey cover which is blocked “Our Daughter’s Wedding” in gold. It is supplied with 15 deckle-edged paste-on grey leaves which can hold thirty prints up to 6″x6″ in size. Alternatively, prints can be mounted using the included matching grey overlays with gold blocking, with pre-cut apertures for 5″x5″ and 5″x4″ prints.

This album has no presentation box, but costs only £10.00.

Wedding Thank You Cards

Cream card mounts featuring a subtle linen embossed surface  blocked ‘Thank You’ in silver in the bottom right hand corner of the cover. Inside is an overlay made with matching board and an aperture to hold a 5″x3½” print (portrait format), with an embossed aperture line crossing in each corner. Supplied complete with matching white envelopes.
